STANDARD MANUAL

EXPLANATION & VISUALIZATION OF THE STANDARD

The Dutch 2018 AHWC-committee would like to undertake an effort to combine the various breed standards of the Afghan Hound into one, clear manual. This manual would provide an explanation of the standards and -for relevant clarification- drawings will be added. It is foreseen that this manual will be published on the AHWC World Website and thus available for breeders, owners, fanciers, judges and other interested parties. In order to produce this manual we need volunteers.

WHY?
In many of the past congresses, attention has been requested for a correct explanation of the Afghan Hound standard. Often has also been stated that judges should have a better eye for the Afghan Hound and it became apparent that many judges incorrectly interpret (parts of) the standard. This wrong interpretation can result in exaggeration and extremities and our beautiful breed is not helped with this. Until now, no real worldwide action has been taken. Instead of an announcement during the 2018 World Congress, we would like to take up the effort now so we might possibly, in August 2018, have something concrete on the table.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
A group of volunteers, hopefully from all regions with their 'own' standard, who are willing to work with us on this manual. It would be great if an artist/ drawer is amongst them. The communication will mainly be done by e-mail.

PRESENT STATUS:
It makes us happy that, Including one of the Dutch Congress Committee members, 7 persons volunteered for this working group. All received a 'thank you very much' mail which also expressed some ideas about how to make a start with this most challenging subject.

INTERESTED?
Should anybody still want to join; be welcome. You are kindly requested to send your personal and other relevant information to faye@nvow.nl
